Secret 7"

Here's my entry for the Secret 7" competition!

Last year I was so disappointed to discover the contest after the submission closed but I was really looking forward to the next event!
When I found out Nick Drake was one of the artists this year, I was more than happy (I'm a huge admirer of his music) - and also a little bit pressured to do something "good enough" for this incredible artist!

A few lucky winners will have their design printed as the 7" cover and will be exhibited in London. The sleeves will then be auctioned for the 'Art Against Knives' charity!

"Art Against Knives is a youth-led charity which works to reduce the root causes of knife crime through arts initiatives that provide an alternative to violent gang culture."

I would be very happy if I could help so, if you like my entry and would love to support me, you can vote here!
Thank you so much!

Shelley Duvall

I watched 'The Shining' yesterday and as I'm practicing my portraits, I thought Wendy would be a great model! I'm very inspired by movies, so I might make it a weekly post!

New things

As I've never been to Art School (and never will go - can't afford it), I have to force myself to paint/draw everyday. Sometimes it's very difficult because I have no discipline at all and I wish I had a teacher behind me and a very strict timetable.
For me, being an illustrator is my 'last chance' (if you follow my blog, you know that I gave up university (law studies) to follow my dreams) so I put a lot of pressure on myself. Most of the time, I hate everything I do. I have no confidence in my abilities and you can probably see it in my artwork. Every brush stroke are full of worries and fear to fail. I'm often scared I made a bad decision and that I'll never be good enough to get a job... But the support of some amazing people and the few commissions I get really make a difference (Merci beaucoup!). It helps me to continue and makes me want to improve.
(This is not a moan, just a reflection of the worries that goes through my mind from working alone - happens at least once a month. A big thank you to everyone who support me!)

Anyway, here are a few new illustrations and pet portraits!

My first *kind of* self portrait

I've also added some stickers in my etsy shop!
